R.I.P. Amy Winehouse
Source: Here
Quote:
Singer Amy Winehouse, 27, has been found dead at her north London home.
|
I can't believe she is dead already. May her soul rest in peace! Amy is an example of how no matter how much money you have, happiness can't be bought and I can totally relate with that. Depression and Substance Abuse leave the human being restless. She was a huge talent. :'(
Rest in Peace my dear Amy!

I will admit, I was very shocked when I heard about this, but I was actually scared by some of the comments made such as "Who cares? She's just a druggie.." and stuff like that. I believe Amy Winehouse is just another victim of the media making someone crack. Every single media outlet watched her every move, and blamed EVERYTHING on drugs to the point that it was getting sickening to hear. I feel very bad for this woman, seeing as she was incredibly musically gifted, and was just another poor soul lost because of substance abuse and the media (I think they're partially to blame). I just cannot believe people's reactions to her death, SHE'S A PERSON!
Also, creepy to note, another member of the 27 club...

umm in a way im indifferent about her death, people die all the time for w.e reason and just b/c shes a star doesn't mean its anything special or well any more tragic than anyone else dying. never the less RIP Amy.

Death is horrible no matter who it is. I just hate how the media blows everything out of proportion regardless of the fact whether anything they say is true or not. She was just a victim of the media and still is even after her death.
And what's even worse is that they don't leave her alone and focus on her death just because she's a famous personality, while almost no one knows about the shooting in Norway.. I guess Stalin was right.. The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic.

There is this fantastic quote/explanation from some media source about how people empathize with death. I can't remember the source right now but it basically asked a person to think of their best friend dying versus a million people dying in something tragic like a genocide. The human brain should be more sympathetic to the loss of a million, but cannot because it cannot compute that sort of a loss. Hence people will focus more on Amy than Norway because it is incredibly difficult and painful to imagine losing 100 people. I've just noticed a lot of online outrage about it on other websites and wanted to point it out.

I only ever heard 'Rehab' and I was never a fan of hers, but I was really shocked and sad when I heard she died. RIP, Amy.

She had a huge gift for music. Her voice was like no other. Amy Winehouse has earned the right to be considered a legend in the music industry. Rest in peace Amy Winehouse.
