Yeah, that's what they said. They also said it would be available to all students. They lied. It's still only for $150 and only for students who get OSAP.

I think there was a deadline, not completely certain though.

It's not that they lied about increasing the amount or making it available to all students - they just cut it out because they realized they're selfish bastards and wondered why should they give more to students.
Initially we heard it was going to be cut out completely, but then it changed to 150 to OSAP students.

They mail it to wherever your "primary address" on Mugsi is.

They actually mail it to whichever address you put into the OSAP application as being your home address.

They did lie. They made it a HUUUUGE deal and pushed that it was going to be up to $300 next year (and every year after that) and it was so important because it was available to everyone.
Even if they simply "changed their minds" - they still lied.

Attention all non OSAP eligible students
You're right Kathy2! the Ontario Liberal government did lie! Dalton McGinty made one of 73 election promises and The Textbook & Technology Grant was one of them. He promised to mail all post secondary students a cheque starting at $150 last year and increasing every year up to $300. Now he has sureptitiously changed the criteria for only OSAP eligible students to qualify with very little fanfare. If you just paid $700 this semester for three textbooks and aren't receiving OSAP you need to contact your local MPP and protest. With the outrageous costs of textbooks and technology every student is a student in need!!!!
