Recommending the sort of unknown
This is for people to recommend movies that aren't so mainstream, but excellent.
My list for now is:
- Mannen som Elsket Yngve
- Fat Girl
- Sugar Cane Alley
- The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

I have a feeling that these suggestions might be too mainstream, but no one I know has seen them, and they're really good.
The Lives of Others
The Nines
The Chumscrubber
Wristcutters: A Love Story
Let the Right One In
Its All Gone Pete Tong
Heathers

Now does that mean you haven't seen the others, or didn't like them?

It means I haven't seen them. I know, I know, for shame. I'll get around to it.
What's Eating Gilbert Grape is another great one, although i don't think it falls under "kind of unknown". Just "extremely under appreciated"

Just two from the top of my head
Cyrus (even though its recent and has been in some theaters every one ive talked too has not seen or even heard about this movie, which is a shame awesome comedy, not the goofy type but the subtle type)
and
Looking for Ms.Locklear ( a doc about two guys trying to find their first grade teacher, very entertaining)

Stardust.
Saw it in 2008, never heard anyone speak of it since then.
I think it's fantastic.

Man that was such a weird movie, lol. It was really good though.
Also if you're up for really depressing movies:
- Lilya 4-ever
- Thirteen
- Requiem for a Dream
Last one might be the most depressing movie I've ever seen.
If you're up for an extremely terrifying movie:
- Jesus Camp

Once is a good movie. If I could add TV shows though, I would say Flight of the Conchords.

There's a Japanese anime movie called 5 Centimetres per Second. I highly highly suggest watching it. This is coming from a non-anime fan, btw.
