Red Door Coffee House - Proceeds to the Eva Rothwell Centre
On Saturday October the 24th from 7:30-11 PM, Red Door will be having a pre-halloween celebration at St. Paul's (1140 King Street West). This event is open to all members of the community and there is no cover charge. If you're interested in performing, doing some artwork, or are looking for a relaxing evening this is the place to be.
Fair trade drinks and snacks can be purchased to help support the community event.
More importantly, this Red Door Coffeehouse will be featuring the Eva Rothwell Centre. This organization has a breakfast program, a clothes donation centre, programming for at risk youth, and a foodbank that the community relies on. I had the privilege of volunteering with the after school program and I've seen first hand that this organization is committed to providing enrichment opportunities for children who would be otherwise unable to afford them.
Unfortunately, Eva Rothwell was broken into over the summer and the new equipment for the children such as a TV set, videogame consoles, and athletic gear were stolen. Now the children are left with nothing. The food bank was also robbed.
Red Door will be fundraising through a silent auction or raffle to raise money for the children. If you are able to donate any non-perishable goods, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to attend and if you want to donate anything, Marissa will be in the OPIRG office (MUSC 229) on Tuesdays.
If you have any questions, feel free to post or PM me.
