Rep Appreciation
I was on campus for Welcome Week today and I found the reps absolutely amazing.
I'll be honest - living off campus and watching you crazy kids and your residences is a bit saddening but my SOCS rep who I only know as Fingered From Space right now really helped take my mind off that.
They're cheery, enthusiastic and just very very sweet.
So on behalf of myself, I'd like to thank all residence and SOCS reps for your phenomenal job and never ending effort. I include the residence reps because if they can make you feel that sad about not sharing a communal bathroom, I think they deserve a good amount of credit.
Feel free to chip in your thoughts and what you found great about these truly impressive people.

Lol, totally forgot that they choose their own names for welcome week.
Reps are awesome! My reps last year were amazing!

Well there's faculty day and faculty night, so a day and a half? I agree that it kinda sucks... really, students spend more time with their faculty (over the course of their studies) than they do with their residences, so it could be argued that spending more time with the faculties would be beneficial, but I've never gotten directly involved with running welcome week, so I've never had the chance to push that point of view.

Definitely agree 100000%. The residence reps have been amazing, they're energetic, helpful, friendly and always out there. Even with all the questions we've thrown at them all week. They've made welcome week all the more worth it . Definitely makes me want to be a rep next year!
The faculty reps were beyond incredible as well! They made faculty day so much fun with all the activities and insights they provided us with. Especially the science reps and Ben of course ! Woo! We really should spend more time with our faculty though, hopefully there will be more opportunities for that throughout the year.
Also, we need to find out our reps' real names at some point

I've never been a rep, but I would have been if I had the energy, haha. I'm too quiet for that kind of thing.
Hope you guys had an awesome welcome week. (:

My boyfriend is really quiet and he was a res rep three years in a row. You don't need to be loud to be a rep.
I can be really quiet or really loud myself (I switch, depending on the situation), and I was a res rep three times and a Maroon last September.

I agree, a lot of the reps were telling us the same thing. And I think it's a good opportunity to get yourself out there. So even though I'm pretty quiet myself (sometimes ), being a WW rep would definitely be something I would do.

Applications come available in second term. It all depends on what rep you want to be as to the application process: res is a written application and an interview, SOCS, Maroons and the faculties have a written component and then an audition.
We actually wrote a whole article series on it in 2008. You can check out the first one here: http://www.macinsiders.com/showthread.php?t=1775 2
