It's more fun being a rep than it is a first year.

I noticed that too. Even though being a first year is really awesome, being a WW rep is really awesome-er

Yup. That's why you have soooooooooo many people who do it for multiple years.

I had 2 questions about that actually, faculty reps are separate from welcome week reps, correct? Also, if you're a CA, can you also be part of the WW reps team? Thanks! =]

Nope... faculty reps are welcome week reps.

Residence reps are welcome week reps too.

They just represent different groups.

Faculty Reps are Welcome Week reps. However many wear their suits at other times of the year.

If you're a CA you can be a WW Rep...but only for Maroons or a faculty. You can't be a res rep and a CA. And it's really difficult to do both, since CAs are expected to be up really late on coverage (i.e. until the building is "asleep"...meanin g up to 4AM sometimes), and then need to wake up early to rep as well.

Is it best to be a residence rep your first year repping(o.o) and then be a faculty rep in later years?

Not necessarily... either are good.

Residence reps have more to do, since they spend more time directly with first years. At the same time however, you might get directly involved with your faculty society and feel closer to your faculty.

It's all about personal preference... some people even do both!

I did Bates and Soc Sci one year...it was a lot...and res is a lot to begin with.

Being a res rep takes much more out of you than any of the other groups. You have much longer hours, and fewer incentives (i.e. less food provided for you for free).

Yeah I think Faculty Reps is definitely a good way to start out! You only have major events for two days a week; but depending on your faculty planners you do get to go to all events and make noise/interact with frosh on a daily basis! Rez Reps does look like alot of work and people who do them have to handle a large group every day!

Plus with faculty reps it is easier to have a sense of motivation since you are representing your faculty and the students in it and the competition with other faculties is fierce! Hence you most probably even might see your fellow reps in your classes!

Welcome Week was absolutely fantastic for us reps, its great to see that the first years felt the same way! Hopefully we'll see you come out to more events throughout the year!

Reps are awesome! My reps last year were amazing!
The SOCS reps don't pick their own names, we have a tradition where each person goes up in turn, people tell embarrassing stories about them, and then the name gets based on that. If you ever see someone in a SOCS rep suit, get them to tell you their name and story. Some of them are hilarious.
