yes.

dc is a protocal, much like irc, torrent, http, ftp, etc.

dc++ is a name for a common program that is used.

what i use on my pc for example, is rev connect.

www.revconnect.com

and so on.

Sorry guys. I don't know how else to help. If you're using a Mac, download Shakespeer. There's a guide on the Shakespeer forums for using that one. On a lighter note, Spore is on DC++! I've been looking forward to that game for years.

Too many anti-piracy measures there. I'd be careful. If it connects to the net you can never install it again, even a legit copy :/

I'm sorry guys, but if you've tried everything on here and you still can't figure it out, you're going to have to go out and ask someone to help. So far, around 5 people have came to me to fix their DC on Macs and PCs with the same problem as everyone on here. By just following the instructions on this thread I'm usually able to get them working in 3 seconds. Others 5 minutes at most. Just follow the instructions carefully.

mulerakb says thanks to mitch for this post.

so i'm sitting in woodstock's basement currently trying to connect, and its not working, i seem to remeber i could connect from here two years ago, though not working now. I'm wondering if it has something to do with ports, anyone know?

of course the ideal situation would be testing it in someone's res room, but seeing as i dont know anyone in res thats slightly out of the question lol

edit: i disabled my wireless connection and am connected via ethernet cord. i uninstalled my old version and reinstalled the most recent dc++ release as well.

Did you authenticate yourself within the Residence network? There has been no downtime on my side for the times you have been trying to connect so there is some sort of barrier preventing you from connecting.

yeah i did. all other internet activities would work, including other, external hubs.

i was in the library later and on a whim tried a couple plugs on the third floor, couldn't even get internet access from them
