So i was looking around the site for fun and i happened to find "COMING SOON: Exchange your points for MacInsiders schwag and McMaster goodies!" anyone have any news on this? thanks

Reward points are currently being tallied up for everyone as we speak, and I'm hoping to.. in September.. once all the exec and staff for MacInsiders has our first meeting of the semester we'll discuss what to do with the points. My vision is to allow you to use your points to purchase goodies and prizes, or enter into contests that we will hold for our members.

You get points by posting in the forum, playing in the arcade, starting new threads, referring new members, and more. So the more active you are on the site, the more points you get.

You can click here to view how many points you have. Right now you can only use them to give yourself extra powers like stealing other user's points, playing around with your avatar/username, etc. Nothing exciting yet, but once we add the real prizes and contests... those points will be worth something more fun

haha. I think its randomized, so you can try and steal, sometimes it will let you do it and other times you'll lose your points trying haha. I haven't tried it yet

I just bought a orange glow for my username with the reward points, and as you can probably see, there is no glow. Did I misunderstand something or does this feature not work yet?

The username glow works, but only in Internet Explorer. Try now.

Most of those things you can buy will be removed and replaced with MacInsiders schwag that you can get. For example, once we get new tshirts made in August, we'll put a few up on here that you can buy with your 'points'.

are you guys talking about macinsiders rewards points? I just noticed them on my profile today... so are you gonna make them worth something?

Okayy soo I noticed we get "taxed"(Nice one Chad!) for our purchases, where exactly can I find the forms for a tax credit relief and report?

Also what's the approximate range for points required for a real item purchase? So I know how much to pimp macinsiders?

Hehe, glad you guys are having fun with the points system. It really is just for fun and to give a little extra features to those who contribute a lot to the site. We haven't yet worked out a way to use points for real tangible items (such as a macinsiders tshirt, etc) but that may come in the future

Just wondering, is something supposed to happen with the bank? There's no pic for it and it just redirects me to a page showing my points. Dunno if that's what always happened or if it's because of the site transition...
