RideShare Classified?
Hey MacInsiders,

After searching through various classified like craigslist and kijiji with not a lot of luck, I thought that macInsiders would be the best forum to offer a Classified section designed specifically for people offering or looking for a ride.

I know there are several students that have cars and visit home, other universities, etc... often, and what would be better than to split to cost of gas with a fellow student?

If you're for this, please show your support so the administrators can take the feedback and help us out. I personally would benefit greatly since there is no direct transit route between Guelph and Hamilton, and I'd be down in a heartbeat to split the cost with someone who goes there regularly, as I go there once a week to see the lady. A 2 hour GO bus ride transferring at Square One is just nonsense if I can hitch a ride that'll take 40 minutes and less than half the cost.

Anyways, provide feedback please!!

Thanks,

Note: "Like This" if you are interested in the idea.

I know of many people that go t various other universities for their parties or to se friends and whatnot; I don't see people who will be transporting seldom like that to use the link your provided.

EDIT: I just looked into that a bit more, and it's definitely not what I'm looking for. That seems to be more directed towards daily commuters within hamilton, unless I'm not doing it right.

Starting September after the Website Upgrades there will be a MSU Classifieds Ride Share on the Website. The Website will also be using MacID login so you'll know its safe/not sketchy.

I did play around with it more, and you're right, it's pretty good actually. It's mainly carpooling with Hamilton Health Sciences or City of Hamilton staff (for my search to/from Guelph, at least), which I personally don't mind. The times of travel are restricted to business hours mainly... i.e. 9am and 5pm.

Thanks for link man. Between this and the MSU RideShare website mentioned above, I think my request has been fulfilled.. for now.

I hope the MSU initiative is heavily campaigned here on MacInsiders to reach out to the already established student network!

P.S. My original post was intended to start a rideshare program amongst students exclusively (also a great way to meet people too), but the MSU seems to have that covered for the upcoming school year, in a much more secure way too with the Mac ID requirement!
