Saving files on the Library Computers Question
Regarding the Mac computers in Mills Library, if one was to save an essay (word document) directly to the computer (rather then a USB memory stick) and one was to log out, would the document remain for a certian period of time on the computer as a temporary file? Or would it be deleted the second the computer is logged out? Asking because I accidently saved my essay document to the computer itself and not my USB stick then logged out!!- Help!!

Thanks!

If you saved it to your Z: drive then its only accessible by you. Anything else I think its on the computer permanently. I've seen students' reports on Mill's computers from about a year ago!

Really depends on the computer, and specific setup of said computer.. some (usually lab) computers won't let you save anything permanently unless its on your personal folder/drive, whereas others there are massive 'my documents' folders with hundreds (thousands?) of random student files, documents, pictures, etc...

Did you try searching the computer you saved it on? I don't see why you'd be posting here, I'd be in there trying to find it... most of the time the default save location is to a place where it will be wiped, if I recall correctly from the last time I used library (ie thode) computers
