I think I can speak for the majority of first year engineers that Physics is an incredibly challenging course, for some reason..Was the physics marks bell-curved by any chance last year..are 40% test averages normal?

I'm in third year, and I remember averages between about 55-62. Never a failing average IIRC.

Last year the averages for the tests were around 52-55 percent, if I remember correctly. I have no idea if the marks were curved or not. Even if they were, it wasn't enough to save me in 1E03...

I took Physics 1E3 and Econ 1B03 in the summer. Classes are three hours, twice a week; econ never lasted the full 3 hours (usually 2) while physics usually took 3 hours but Jopko let us have a 15-minute break halfway. The lecture material for physics was the exact same as in the winter term, but the tests seemed a bit easier. I don't know if that was done on purpose or whether it just seemed that way because I'd seen everything before. If you've already done all the labs you don't have to do them again in the summer, and the marks from them will count towards your summer mark.

i totally agree, CAPA was a great way to stay on top of the material.

Also, a little late for 1d03, but printing off the slides (perhaps 4 slides per page to save paper), and then writting notes on top is a great way to form notes, my notes for 1e03 especially were a real benifit to study from.

[email protected] all the kevin's

Physics 1D03 doesn't seem difficult for the most part at all to me, at least, the tests that is. The only thing that ever screws me up on them is the stupid multiple choice. I get two or three friggin questions wrong, and then my mark plummets. The worst part is that I always fall for those tricks where they try to catch people in the multiple choice where they know people most often go wrong. I still think math is far more difficult...

Lolz, you havnt met Math version 2: Laplace transforms! Everything is built up on from first year. It doesnt get better in 2nd year, that is for sure.

What are you having trouble with? If you can do the CAPA without completely copying what to do from the discussion board, you should be able to do well on all tests.

Just don't lose hope...Everyone cant be good at every thing ............I had to work really hard in my C03 tests coz solid edge gave me a hard time........As far I remember , in the D04 exam multiple choices questions focussed on the basic concepts , I concentrated more on the long answer questions as they were worth more marks and u even get marks for part answers but they cant just get u through the exma ........u need to try and get the multiple choice questions right as well......
U can always see ur physics exam if u feel that the grades r vary below ur expectations......... and for next term try to go to Okon's lecture he teaches well and is less boring that other profs......as for Math I say go to child's lectures and go to math help center if u have nay doubts ...........the exam is very similar to the previous exams ...............

Good Luck
