Buying the textbook is definitely up to you, though the book does have many questions you can practise and for physics, practise questions are very very helpful. If you are good with physics in general, you can get by with just notes and questions and examples in class. But if you know its not your strong point, you should probably buy a book. Marks in this class are usually lower so practise makes perfect!
I have a package which includes the textbook and a few booklets for practise problems and an answer book. Hardly used em, practically fresh. Though the textbook I have is the ones used last year. I heard they have a new one, but honestly, its no different. How often are these physics laws going to change? There's a new prof(s) teaching it so maybe thats why they have new books. But if you are interested in the package I have, inbox me.
