Absolutely not. It's essentially useless.
Edit: A short guide can be found in the library/lsb biology office for the one time you need to use it.

The questions are much to easy to be representative of anything you will see on a test.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmm wtf..

YES get it its the most useful thing u have , its like ur bible to writing lab reports throughout undergrad.

Alot of ppl will complain to you about how hard lab reports are in upper years and that they never teach you to do them, correction you have that book. you follow what it says and combine it with what your TA's expect of you and you will ace your lab reports.

TBH its more useful than any other text book, more useful than the actual bio text it self.
it has a bunch of things in it including; how to properly format figures, how to properly write abstracts (which a lot of ppl mess up), how to for mat your paper, how to do proper work cited lists.
It also gives you great examples and plenty of examples of dos and donts, what it should look like and what it shouldnt.

Yes profs and TA's do tell you what they want in their reports and papers but they do not properly teach you how to do them.

TRUST ME, if you want to do well on your lab reports get this book, and USE it.

lol just cus ...

Im guessing you are in life sci?

as you get into upper years even your TA's and profs will refer back to the book and recommend that you take a look at it when writing your reports.

but yea, honestly for me its the only book ive actually bothered to open and go over. and its one which i have been going back to and using for the past 3 years.

courses its useful in;

Bio 2A03
Bio 2l03
Bio 3U0
Bio 3xl
Bio 4c09

May be useful for Bio 2A03 since they mark those lab reports a lot tougher and many students seem to struggle with it (That was like 2-3 years ago though, no idea if it's changed). Also useful if you have to take a lab course as those lab reports are marked even more thoroughly. And if you have to do a thesis, you should already have learned how to properly write reports.

I'm in third year Bio- I found the Guide to writing about biology immensely helpful for my 1A03 formal lab report. I have continued to use it the past years and I find it useful.

Matter of preference I guess?

(for the study guide i have no idea)
