In what situation would McMaster close due to Ebola?

All this Ebola talk is getting to me.

Would McMaster close if a person living nearby was positive for Ebola, or would they wait until one of the students gets it?

How do we survive the Ebola-lypse?

Well, we start by not overreacting.

The only way to contract Ebola is through contact with bodily fluids of infected and symptomatic people. So, they might close a building and quarantine a bunch of students if a person with Ebola vomited all over the place in a lecture hall or something. The chances of it actually reaching the point where they would consider closing the whole school completely are extremely low, and any such scenario would likely involve multiple infected students.

As it stands right now, Ebola is not a risk to the average Canadian. And even the reports of people cancelling trips to Dallas are WAY overreacting. There is absolutely no logical reason to stay away from the city. The only people who should be concerned are health care workers who are directly caring for a person with Ebola, and perhaps their immediate families.

Well, you can never be too careful. If Plague Inc taught me anything, that'd be how fast it can go down the drain.

Well if you remember the few times McMaster stayed open through snow storms the past few years, you know for sure they will remain open.....

Yeah, McMaster has a closure policy similar to Umbrella Corporation.

Haha that's a pretty cool way of putting it. On the other hand, I just remembered that last year's or 2 years ago Welcome Week, McMaster had the campus evacuated for a brief moment during the afternoon because of a liquid nitrogen spill.

I think their evacuation protocols are a bit lopsided.

That had something to do with the nuclear reactor. But it ended up being a false alarm. So other than a potential nuclear accident, mac stays open.

Considering we have pretty reputable professors in the health sciences, i think their statement would be along the lines of:

"There is an individual in our city of a few hundred thousand that has Ebola, refrain from licking random people."

edit: Also

That had to do with a clogged filter on one of the vapor deposition machines in the Tandem Accelerator buildings. The only guy that knew what the error codes meant retired a year or two earlier. They chose to evacuate first, then figure it out later because some of those error codes meant they could have been venting arsene or phosphene or something.

collinbf says thanks to adaptation for this post.

Gotta love that human resource drain at McMaster.
