Snow is getting pretty bad. Anyone have any info on whether they're planning on canceling classes? Usually they make the call in the afternoon like this.

Its been forever since we have a snow day. McMaster been really cautious since Waterloo been making us look bad by not closing with us.

Lol what are you talking about we had one last year in 2014 I remember although they announced it late at around 10:30 am I believe. I remember we also had one in 2013. That one was the best I should know I was in first year and I missed a midterm because of it and even made a post about it here on macinsiders. In fact, every year I've been at mcmaster apart from this year I've had a snow day. Now just waiting on this year

It was over -40 last year and school wasn't canceled until it was a couple of hours before 5:30 class anyway. So basically everyone who could get sick by standing in the open waiting for the bus to go to school already got sick by then. #ThanksMSU

Basically, the provost makes a decision to close the school by 5:30am, but also specifies the duration of the closure. If they announce that the school is only closed until 12:00pm, your 12:30pm class is still on. In all of my years at McMaster, a "snow day" announcement (there have been 5 or 6 since 2007) cancelled all day classes, and night classes were only cancelled if specified.

It's best to check dailynews.mcmaster.ca Monday morning. If there is a snow day, there will be a giant red banner indicating it on the dailynews home page.

It's the Provost's decision. MSU has no say in it.

Insane snow right now lol I hope there's a snow day I don't wanna go to my night class tomorrow I just wanna stay home and drink warm milk and honey and eat cookies and get fat yo yeh dats da plan make it happen mcmasta.

It is guarantee to be a snow day tomorrow. Weather services just release an updated status of the snow fall and it is to be expected to be increase after 5 am.
