Soc Sci 2EN3

I took this class in summer 2013 with a Mohawk prof by the name of Jim. Nice enough guy, but his teaching style was very middle-school... as in, he started every evening's class with putting us into groups and having us introduce ourselves to each other. If you're an introvert, like me, you're not too into that.

The material was simple enough if you have any background in business. It focused on the operational aspects of running a small business and touched on marketing and financials as well.

There was a 5% assignment where we had to interview an entrepreneur and do a brief writeup; everyone did really well on this. There was a larger group assignment where we created a business plan. My group did very well, and I don't think the marking was too hard on this. We did have to include financial statements so it helped to have someone with a background in accounting or bookkeeping.

The midterm was multiple choice and extremely long. Despite this, it was very straightforward and easy to do well on.

Throughout the course, we had access to online content from the textbook publisher including chapter quizzes. We were advised to use these to study for the final. Lo and behold, the final was comprised of the last six chapter quizzes in their entirety, with no questions out of order or answers rearranged. Ergo, anybody who bothered to study off them did EXTREMELY well. I finished in 20 minutes and got just under 100%.

Overall, the class was easy but dull.
