The Pancake Breakfast doesn't include SOCS, although there was someone who was going to contact FYE to inquire about it.

But to answer your question, you can't get into any macpass-required events with the SOCS membership.

Not sure about the social, it hasn't been confirmed if it needs a macpass or not.

If there is a green check mark it means you don't need a macpass.

The membership was $25 but we knocked it down to $20 but we have a special price of only $5 during welcome week

There are some events that you don`t need a macpass for, as chad said, but any of the SOCS specific events you need a macpass

Is the 5$ special only for first year students?

Nope that $5 is open to anyone from any year, even if they live on residence because even though they live on rez in their first year the majority will be living off campus eventually. We will be selling them all through welcome week just ask a rep and they should direct you to an executive member.

I can't speak for Dan since I didn't know him when he was in first year (he's just a few years older than me ), but when I was in first year I attended quite a few of the events. There were always lots of first years there, so you should definitely come out to some and meet people!

Do you have to purchase the SOCS membership annually, or does it cover all 4 years?

Actually I did it backwards. In my first year I didn't attend welcome week and only participated in SOCS through the intramurals. In my 3rd year I attended most of the events and became VP Athletics and loved it so much I ran again last year and got re-elected. This will be my second welcome week ever and as a result my second as a rep.

But like Andrew said if you come out to welcome week you will make tons of first year and upper year friends so events will be no problem. The important thing there is also becoming friends with reps. I am in my fifth year and I am friends right now with different people from 1st (i know some incoming first years) to fifth (someone I've known since first year that is coming back)

No you have to purchase it every year. Because SOCS is independently run all the events we put on come from our own money. So to make money we have sponsorships, we sell memberships and try to fundraise
