SOLAR re-opening
I want to overload this year, however, my faculty doesn't start taking requests for overloading until the end of August. So I registered for the courses that I wanted to overload with yesterday when SOLAR opened for me. However, I didn't register for two courses that are required by my program.

Will I be able to register for these later when SOLAR re-opens (granted that my faculty gives me permission) and will I be penalized for not signing up for them now?

If anyone knows anything about this, please help. Thanks!

This question could better be answered by somebody who works for McMaster. In any case, what is your program and what are the courses?

Thats actually a good approach.

Since the remaining courses are mandatory, they will fit you in somehow. Just wait till you can request permission and then go from there.

So they will fit me in later (after the timetables are released) even though I haven't registered for the required courses now?

I did this last year and it worked out fine. There certainly won't be any penalties.

Just keep in mind that you may not be able to get into popular cores, tutorials, labs, if you add the required courses after timetables are released.
