Imagine four fabulous days of free music - It truly has SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE! Jazz, Rock, Folk, Pop, Blues, Latin, Big Band, Celtic, Country and Children's Entertainment - spread out over 10 performance areas along our beautiful picturesque waterfront, Spencer Smith Park and throughout Downtown Burlington.
Father's Day weekend June 16th-19th, come out to the Burlington music festival! There's music, a parade, carnival, street vendors, food, and more.
Its all throughout Burlington, but mostly downtown -- to get there without a car, if you live in Hamilton, you can take the Parkdale (11) right to Spencer Smith Park. (1, eastbound gets you to Parkdale).
It's not all through Burlington lol. It's at Spencer Smith Park, but yes also downtown (but Spencer Smith is downtown). If you are driving, I'm just gonna warn you all that there is NOT a lot of parking downtown. It's really limited. Also, if you're looking for a bar to hang out in besides Sound of Music, head over to Emma's Backporch on Old Lakeshore Road. All the young people are there, as opposed to the Dicken's which is a great pub but also handles the older clientele on Sunday nights. The Water St. Cooker is also a good bar to hit up. R.C.'s has great ice cream and is always super busy during Sound of Music. There are a lot of girly shops downtown (Joelle's, "Ooh") and Jeff's Guy Shop, as well as A Different Drummer bookstore, and for all you who like records and obscure music, check out Loony Tunes. All these stores can be found on Lakeshore. Also, Pene Fresco is a great little cafe to eat at.
Pretty good so far. Stereos, Tokyo Police Club, Paper Lions, Two Crown King, etc are playing Saturday!

I live in Burlington, but I don't bother with the SoM Festival.

Just a heads up to anyone wanting to head to Emma's, it's 21+ now and you need 2 pieces of ID to get in, at least on Friday and Saturday, not sure about during the week. Pretty much everything in Burlington is going 21+ now, it's kinda lame haha
Sound of Music is awesome though, I go every year and there's something there for everyone. I live in Burlington and it's definitely really hard to find parking during the festival, I usually just take the bus down or get dropped off to avoid this issue

Should have mentioned that! haha But if you're from Burly you should know that no one hits up Emma's unless it's a Wednesday or Saturday night!

Lol well I'm not that into the bar scene so no I don't know that, plus the second time I went to Emma's when it was still 19+ they wouldn't let me in even with 2 pieces soo I don't really care for that bar in general haha
If anyone's in Hamilton in August, I recently heard City and Colour is performing at the Festival of Friends. I'm not sure of the exact date, but I'm pretty sure The Tragically Hip rocked it last year, so it's always good fun.
