I have been using Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker System for years.

If you have the $$$, I would recommend it.

I've seen those speakers on sale through the past few years anywhere from: $150-$350. Keep your eyes open on TigerDirect for that. You can definitely get a deal.

I'm using Logitech Z313
http://www.logitech.com/en-au/speake...s/devices/5872.

They may only be 2.1, but I'm getting better sound and bass quality than my roommate's Logitech 5.1 system and they cost me less than 50$. Although, the quality may be the result of my laptop's audio driver and and audio management program (HP's IDT program). My other roommate has a Bose system, so that just blows both our systems out of the water.

logitech z2300. basically the brother of z5500 just a bit less power and 2.1 instead of 5.1

I've had them for the past 6 months and they're absolutely amazing! So powerful they rattle my windows hehe

I am looking to sell mine because I got the z5500 as a present for my birthday.

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=12963
http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/16...0403/Logitech/

They are very powerful!

Here's some reviews:

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/859850...h_su bwoofer/
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z-230...7805876&sr=8-1

If you are interested let me know, the z2300 and 5500's are the best speakers for pc's that I've owned.

Logitech Z-623 for $120+ tax. One of the best 2.1 speakers in the market.

Creative Gigaworks T40 Series II

Search that name in pricebat.ca
Should cost you no more than $150 before taxes

Best speakers in this price-range. And great non-dominating bass without the subwoofer.
Plus they are a foot tall and look absolutely epic on the desk.

Am I weird? Cause I honestly can't tell much of a difference between expensive speakers or cheap speakers. Same with headphones/earbuds. Checking the futureshop website, I'd be just fine with the $10 computer speakers.

Depends. Usually people who say they can't tell a difference between headphones think that their friend's "high-end" skull candy headphones are audiophile headphones, when of course such headphones are just as crappy as their own. Same goes for speakers, except there are a few more variables involved, mainly the source of the sound and the quality of the music encoding.

Yes, playing a 128 bitrate song on a laptop with a terribad soundcard will probably yield bad sound quality on any speakers. However, when playing a well encoded song on a computer with a decent soundcard the audio difference between the speakers will be night and day.

I love you so much just for saying this.

Chances are, if you're using an iPod, with a library filled with 128kb/s mp3's downloaded off of frostwire, you're mildly retarded for buying Beats by Dre' headphones and calling yourself an audiophile. It's almost as bad kids with kodak cameras taking pictures of daisies and calling themselves photographers.
