At least they did something useful with the space and built the hospital.
I think McMaster's campus is already a lot better than other schools, but more nature couldn't hurt

Wow, that sunken garden must have been so awesome! I wish I could have seen it in real life.

just wanted to point out that the pictures were taken in various times, you can see in the background either all trees, no trees or houses constructed. The thing that looks like a 3 door garage is probably a viewing deck that overlooks the entire garden. Can you guys imagine just having this wilderness behind your back (the trees) and then this tamed beauty in front of you? That would've been an amazing experience.

Let's recreate this somewhere and call it the Michael G. Degroote Garden of Discovery.

Someone should approach the university about this, and we could get donations. Alumni are great sources for donations.
Any green, quiet space on campus would be beneficial to all students and staff. Just think--doing your homework, having a meeting, or w/e on a bench in a serene garden.....

Holy shit, I cannot believe how PRETTY that was. Would almost make me not embarrassed to say I go to mac if we still had that.
Really, they couldn't build it anywhere else? D:

What about if we contacted the Mac Alumni Association (MAA) and made making a new one part of a class gift, kind of like the rock gardens near faculty hollow?

I like this idea! I think it's too late for this year, but maybe they could do it next year.

I would laugh if the smaller of the two squares was used for the project (ETB/IAHS Courtyard) but then the combination of sunlight reflected from the glass facade of the ETB building and the sunlight reflected off of the reflecting pool created a focus spot and resulting in a sort of Archimedes heat ray and burned passersby on contact! Of course that would never happen but it would be funny nonetheless. On the other hand they'd be right next to the Mac ER (assuming its still open to the non-children public at that time!)
