How To Be A TA
Hi there, I'm a first year student and I am really interested in being a TA for sociology or social psychology in my second year. I know it is tough to become a TA in my second year but can anybody tell me the requirements for being a TA? Also, if there is an application somewhere can somebody please post the link?

You need to be a 4th year student (if you're lucky) or a grad student (basically guaranteed). Sociology would never take a 2nd year. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Definitely don't give up! I was a T.A. in my fourth year and absolutely loved it. Very rewarding experience. You have to have taken the class you want to T.A. for, and yes, being an upper year is usually a requirement.

Just speak with the head of your department about how you would really like to become a T.A. and ask what you can do to make sure you don't miss the deadlines in your upper years, and anything you can do to help better your chances.
