Hey,

I took organic chemistry during the year. It wasn't so bad. You just have to make sure to keep up with the work and spend time doing practice questions etc.

I know a few people taking the course during summer. You do get more time to focus on the material (especially if you only have the one course). And you won't have the stress from all of your other courses in the summer, allowing you to concentrate on organic chemistry.
But at the same time, the summer class has a much faster pace. In a summer course, each lecture is usually 3 hours. This means that you essentially cover one week's worth of material in each lecture (and you have 2 lectures each week).
So it really depends on your preference and how you learn.
Hope that helps.

I am taking organic chemistry currently in the summer and its not bad at all. I wouldn't say you don't have to stay caught up because summer courses are really fast. So you should just stay on track, go to class and pay attention, go to tutorials. And you'll be fine

I think if you put in the time then you'll do fine. It's all about practicing. Keep on doing practice problems, even if you think you already know the mechanism. I found I had plenty of time during winter/fall to put towards orgo, sadly I'm a bit of a procrastinator though. So a word of caution, it's REALLY hard to review everything and do practice problems a week before the exam if you haven't been keeping up with the material and doing practice problems throughout the year.

If you want to take about Optometry I can tell you some information about it. I'm taking my OAT sometime this summer and I'm applying this year (I think it's in September/October but they recently changed the application process so I have to review it). Just message me your msn if you want to talk.

Yeah, the requirement at waterloo is actually physiology OR Anatomy. I wasn't able to get into Kin so I ended up taking the bio animal physiology and will be taking the third year one. I'm fairly certain that first year kin is easier so if you can get in that probably would be best.
