Taking a pre-req after applying to grad school
Hey, does anyone know if grad school (specifically med/dentistry/optometry) prereqs can be taken after applying? For example, applying to grad schools in the beginning of 4th year but taking a prereq like Orgo 2ob3 4th year 2nd semester? also how important is the gpa of that specific semester if I was to apply to grad schools at the beginning of 4th year?

Thanks

1. The term you are looking for is "professional school" - things like medical school, optometry, dentistry, etc. give you a profession. "Graduate school" is going for a master's or PhD and is pretty much research, which is something I doubt you want to do based on your posts.

2. I doubt it. But your best bet is to just email the schools and see what they say.

(But seriously though, you can't keep looking for the easy way out. Medicine/optometry/dentistry isn't going to have summer school, or let you skip prerequisites, or have easier versions of their education. This will just hurt you in the long run even if you manage to sneak your way in like that.)

Danielrus, starfish like this.

Every school and program is different, so Google is your friend! In my experience, taking orgo that late will be ok - most schools are more interested in average GPA. However, you will need proof that you are registered in it at time of application, and you will obviously need to pass it to maintain an admission offer.
