Tests on Saturdays
Hey I just read a post here which talked about tests on Saturdays. It doesn't seem like anyone has really touched upon this subject yet, what do you guys think of tests on Saturdays? I personally think it is a great idea!

Don't particularly think it is a great time to have a midterm on a Saturday. If you had a midterm during homecoming weekend, you wouldn't think it was a great idea.

I agree with that, but it's kind of nice to just have a day off to study and then go write the test

I don't like it.

When midterms are scheduled for class time, it means there is no lecture during that class on the account of the midterm. Therefore, less material to study that week.

If they are not scheduled for class time and are still during the week, I have the weekend off so I can focus on studying or chillaxing. I'd rather get the midterm over and done with during the week.

I work on saturdays. If I have a midterm on a saturday morning, I lose over $100. As a student who always is struggling financially, I really can't afford that. Fortunately, I've only had 1 saturday midterm in my entire university career.

Saturday midterms ideally should be banned. How feasable that would be is another story.

I'd rather have the midterm on Friday night than Saturday morning.

It seems Degroote has a thing for Saturday midterms. I've had a few Saturday tests, and they were all in my commerce courses.

The best part about Saturday midterms are the magical Saturday morning GO Buses that run from Square One to Mac that I can take.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all commerce midterms are either friday night or saturday morning. This rule has only ever been broken with 2nd year marketing in my experience.

They just like having midterms on Friday or Saturday to avoid room conflicts with other faculties.

Maybe to indicate that business never sleeps?

I don't actually "like" that there's no GO buses on Saturdays, I like your point... it's a strong argument against Saturday tests.

That was one of the things the Commerce SRA Caucus generally said they will work on! I'm not sure where things stand! Harass them ASAP!

On a random note this project was part of my operations committee in the first and only meeting we had in June. Since then the commissioner has resigned in September/Octoberish andd we are without a commissioner!

I already have wayyyyy too much on my plate otherwise I would have taken this up! (Even though I've never had a Saturday midterm!)

You can email the SRA Caucus members to do something though!

tests on saturday are very bad for commuters... REALLY BAD ... I have a final on a saturday at 7 PM ... it is a great problem because there are no GO buses and most probably it'll be snowing at that time (december) ... really a bad idea ....

A WEEKEND IS A WEEKEND...

I hate evening and saturday midterms/exams. Saturdays are difficult for me as a commuter (had saturday exams last year and so the go bus wasn't available) and evening midterms are annoying because you have to stay around on campus if you finish class early and also, it makes it hard to study for multiple midterms in the same week.

A friend at Laurier once had to write a midterm on a Sunday because it was apparently the "best day for the prof". Weird.
