I spoke with both the Ministry and the Registrar's Office. It is Mac that is holding up everything. The Ministry requires confirmation of fulltime attendance and Mac has not provided it. I was told they are just doing it now. There is also the option of doing it electronically, but a big shocker, Mac is doing it manually. whatever that means! translation...keep waiting...

Does anyone know who to contact at McMaster about this?

I don't want to call and complain. But it's been 4 months, and I NEED that money for THIS term's textbooks. I want to make sure there's nothing wrong with my applicatoin (and the sooner I know, the sooner I can try to fix it). People who applied later than me, in the same program, without OSAP, have got theirs. There's no reason for it to be taking this long.

I'd just like to give them a call and make sure there's nothing wrong with my application.

I spoke with Melanie something from the Registrar's Office. She said to check back by the end of the month...but call yourself if you need to. As more the Ministry, I just called the number the provided. I never had a problem getting through to speak to someone.

My two cents..

OSAP (or whoever is organizing this) claims it is McMaster that's holding everything up. BUT my status only changed to "File sent to institution for confirmation" a week or so ago. It was "being processed by the Ministry" for 4 MONTHS.

While I have no doubt it will be at Mac for a long time, they shouldn't be blaming McMaster when it's them taking forever.

I would be helpful if I could get this soon so I could pay off my debt at Titles but I doubt that's going to happen.

With the amount of time it's taken already I don't even know if I expect to see this cheque until the end of term.

Hmm, that's quite bizarre...I got mine about two months ago. I wonder why so many people haven't received theirs. I hope that it works out for all of you.

I agree. I have literally NO money in my bank account. I needed to buy a $100 textbook in order to write an essay that's due on Monday. I had to borrow the book from a friend. I applied on September 17th, I expected it to come by now.

Knowing OSAP and Mac, I'm sure the cheque will arrive on April 29th.

nino do you receive OSAP?

People who get OSAP have already gotten this grant, it's the people who do not get OSAP who haven't gotten it yet.

Sorry but I take it you meant it's the people who do not get OSAP who haven't gotten it? Yeah, I receive OSAP..Maybe that's why I received it. However, I'm curious whether the grant only applies for people who receive OSAP?

The grant is supposed to be for all students in Ontario..but if you don't get OSAP you have to fill out an application to get it.

Yes that's what I meant.

The OSAP website said it was for all students but you had to fill out a separate application if you do not get OSAP. We are all still waiting on our money though.

I do have a friend at Humber who doesn't get OSAP who recently got his so I'm hoping McMaster can hurry along and confirm that we are all full time students so we can use this grant for what it is intended for. Everyone applied at the beginning of first term and we're still waiting on money.

What's the point of getting a textbook grant if you can't actually spend it on the textbooks you need.

My sister goes to Waterloo and she submitted her form after me but still got her grant in November. This is very frustrating!!

I wonder if there is some kind of order in which they process these in. Perhaps they do it by school or something and McMaster it toward the end of the list.
