textbook sellback?
so, I bought most of my textbooks as used, from Titles. I looked up the sellback prices on their site, but do those prices only apply to textbooks you bought new? or do the used ones sell for the same price?

no, they only pay that for the new ones, the used ones you bought they will give you a different price. i've seen the prices from years past and you might as well sell them yourself (you'll be able to get more money)

so.. I'd have to go in myself to find out the sellback price of the used textbooks? ugh
they should have stated it more clearly then.

I wouldn't consider selling to Titles because they don't pay much... Better idea to just post up an ad on MI or Titles classified or on Facebook...

bah. I'm just worried that with the influx of people posting ads, it'll take forever to sell my books.

Alternatively, you can post your books on LearnLink (if you have access and the books are for courses in Health Sci) or you could also use the Titles used books classifieds: http://www.sellmytextbooks.o rg/members/17/
I've sold/bought a few of my books from those sources and a lot of my friends sell their books from there too. Definitely worth a try

I agree with the above posts. One of my friends tried to sell her book back to Titles last year, and they offered her like $3 .. =S. obviously nowhere near the actual price she bought it at. Try using the Marketplace, facebook groups.. post up posters around where that class is held maybe (as I've seen some people do), or even ask around, friends and such, maybe they'll know someone taking the course . If you advertise it enough, I don't see why they wouldn't get sold =]!

I don't believe this is true.
Books purchased used and then sold back to titles have always been for the same price as books bought new and then sold back (in my experience).
Maybe you're thinking of older editions of the text?

Same, I'm pretty sure I sold a used book back to them, or I'm forgetting things :S.

I bought a new book last year for $25. They're only willing to give me two bucks for it. :S But the prices change, I think. Don't they give you more when that book is actually needed for a class, not just when they buy a book back and put it in storage? Because the site said that the prices are subject to change depending on when you sell them.

That's correct, the price of the buy back depends on if the book is still being used at McMaster as well as how many they have in stock.
