Textbooks after first class
So I have been advised to buy my textbooks after my first core of each course but what if some textbooks are already out of stock by then? It's a stupid question but I'm worried about it.

I bought all my textbooks the first week of class, they generally don't run out, and if they do you'll get it within a week or so which isn't a huge problem as you can find 90% of your textbooks in the library anyhow. Also, profs tend to understand if you don't have the textbook if the bookstore runs out.
Although, doing this I was only able to get brand new textbooks, which will cost you quite a bit more than used from other students.
I would recommend going to the titles website and look up your courses on the booklist, see which ones are required and maybe search for them online before classes start if you have a lot of anxiety about this.
Also, maybe talk to second years and find which books are essential and which ones are optional (some are said to be "optional" but you only use them once or twice and it's easy to just get them from the library)

Hope that helped a bit!

You should be able to get most, if not all, of your books because Titles has a ton of copies of each first-year book.

If something does go out of stock, they tend to order them and restock very quickly so you shouldn't wait long (in my experience at least). You do practically nothing for the first 2 or 3 weeks anyways so not having a textbook isn't going to kill you.

You should be fine getting them after the first cores. However, if you're really stressed about the chance of something being sold out, you can get them earlier for your peace of mind. Honestly though, you should be fine. I only witnessed one situation where books were sold out. There were lots of sections of the class and I was in the evening class that was offered on Wednesday nights. Since school started on a Thursday, my first core was pretty much a week after school started. After considering that, I decided to buy my books for that course in the first couple of days of school, before the first core, just in case. By the time I got to class on Wednesday, a few people were complaining about the books being sold out. If you have a similar situation for one of your classes, maybe buy that textbook early. Otherwise, I would recommend doing as you've heard and buying your textbooks after the first cores.

most textbooks you can return, so if you buy a textbook new just dont open the packaging if it has it and return it if you find that you wont be needing it
