I just finished my initial course selections on SOLAR, and the only I could fit in my first choice courses is if I take 18 units in term 1 and 12 units in term 2. This isn't considered an overload, but will this be too difficult to handle? Should I switch some courses around to get a 15-15 balance?

I would try to get a 15-15 balance in first year. It'll be difficult adjusting to university life and having to deal with such an imbalance in first year.
