Is anyone else concerned about all this salt and it's affects on water quality, wildlife or soil quality? When I see how much salt they use it makes me feel ill.

Could we use sand or potassium acetate? Unless we already do, then I have no further beef. I hope Mac Green is on this.

I wondered why you were caring so much about the environment, but then I saw your program and it all made sense.

It's funny you brought this up as it was just discussed in one of my classes. Basically ya it its not great for the environment but it's not as bad as people think. It really is safety vs. the environment and safety will always trump environment. As far as the alternatives go well I am sure they are more expensive so we will just have to deal with salt unfortunately. I completely agree though that there is no need for the amount that it is used.

McMaster should installs heated walkway powered by solar instead of salts, like Norway.

Remember all the construction at the beginning of last semester? They were replaceing some of the major pathways lol, chances are we will not be seeing solar powered heated sidewalks for a while.

But you never know, maybe that is why mac is trying to save money, causing everyone to go on strike :O

It's all just a conspiracy! They're using the salt for food on the roads now that they don't have to make food anymore <_< blasphemy!

Yea yeah, I know most of the eating places on campus are open lol
