Hamilton, Ont - This weekend McMaster University’s Burridge Gymnasium will see
the top four teams in the OUA women’s volleyball standings vie for the league
championship and a berth at the CIS Championship Tournament.
With all four higher seeds advancing out of the quarter-finals, the pairings are now set
heading into Friday night’s semi-final round.
As the top seed and host by virtue of having the league’s best record, McMaster will
play the Queen’s University Gaels at 6 p.m.. Queen’s finished second in the East
Division with a record of 13 and 6, and defeated York 3-1 to advance. In their only
meeting this season, McMaster defeated Queen’s 3-1 on November 6, 2009 at the
Burridge Gym.
The other semi-final will follow at 8 p.m., featuring the East Division leader Toronto
Varsity Blues and the Western Mustangs, second-place finishers in the OUA West.
Action will continue Saturday, February 27 with the bronze medal match between the
semi-final losers at 4 p.m., and the OUA Championship match featuring Friday night’s
winning teams set to go at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday night’s winning team will also carry the OUA banner into the CIS
Championship tournament, being held March 5th to March 7th at the University
of Alberta in Edmonton.
