Usain Bolt just got disqualified for false start for 100m
this is unbelievable I was hoping to see him make a new world record or something

..."It's a false start...I can't believe it! Usian Bolt almost unthinkably...I was talking about thee...I was talking about thee...How does he false start?!?"

The announcers comments and reaction was then Bolt's false start.

He's so fast that when the gun went off and he starts running, it looks like he started running then the gun went off.

What about the guy in red on the right? Would that count as a false start as well?

I think it's kind of strange that he gets immediately disqualified...

Is there any reason for that?

I mean it's not like he did it on purpose and tried to cheat the system - he clearly admitted he false started and it was a mistake. And it only takes a couple mins to reset everything so it's not like he messed anything else up.

I'm sure theres a lot of unrecorded false starts, its just this one was so (almost) expertly timed!

they used to allow one false start but they changed the rules this year
they are major strict now
it's so sad to see him get disqualified
but i agree with the commentators he should have protested or something
he shouldn't have just given up

The rule was introduced in 2009, they used to have it so that the first false start of any runner warns the entire field, and next false starter gets disqualified.

What runners used to do is if they felt too pressured, they'd false start just for the extra time to refocus. As a result though it disturbed the concentration of other runners, and put more pressure on them since now a false start means disqualification.
