I'm currently a science tour guide. The interview is simple. They give you a script and assign you to a certain part of the script such as tutorial room, lecture hall, etc. Then you perform your part in front of everyone. The chances of landing the position are high, as it is a volunteer position and they will take as many as they can. The only reason they would reject you would be if you don't speak with a loud voice, or something about your reading makes them feel like you wouldn't be a good guide. So far this year, there hasn't been much interest for science tours other than on open house dates and there is an upcoming touring opportunity for
[email protected] During the group tour they may ask you "What would you say if someone asked you a question that you didn't know the answer to". The answer is simple, just say you'll direct them to your supervisor or someone who knows the answer. If you're good at speaking in front of crowds and have a good loud voice then this is the position for you.
Also you don't have to memorize the script, they'll give you a copy. Also feel free to arrange the lines around, you don't have to read it exactly the way it's written on the script. I rearranged my lines around because I found that it flowed better.
