Welcome Week 2008 Logo Revealed

By CHAD FULLERTON, MACINSIDERS

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Welcome Week 2008 logo.
Planner representatives from all the different faculties, residences, SOCS, IRC, MSU, FYEO, etc. came together to decide on a theme. The theme this year is "MACcess Granted" and a logo contest was held (our coverage here) where came up with design ideas. Other possible themes that were under deliberation were: "Mac a Connection", "One Vision, Many Voices," "Mac Lovin', and "McMaster, Frame Your Future." The logo will be placed on all promotional material.

Interestingly, the name "MACCESS" is the same name as the Student Portal Project, which has been in the works for a while and will provide students with a new central location for academic information and services. Those who attended the Orientation Days last year may remember hearing about it. There is apparently no connection between the two names, and was a fluke that they are so similar.

Thanks to our team member, Temara, for the logo.

I think it's a great name for a theme for first years entering McMaster, makes the campus sound like a really close community

I'm not going to lie, Mac Lovin' sounded pretty sweet. But I think MACcess Granted is better, to someone going into their first year (like myself) it sounds like "Hey, you've made it this far, come in, we welcome you." Sort of thing. The logo also looks awesome, nice job

yep Mac Lovin' was definitely the best but MACcess Granted isn't bad..

still though, this was probably the last chance to make a Superbad reference before it becomes too old...the logo could've been a Hamilton drivers license instead of Hawaiian

Mac Lovin' sounds like a rip off from McDonald's.

Though the concept of getting something from a movie is quite comical, especially from a movie that is superfluous.
