What's going on with the drop deadline?
First the deadline was changed to 30th of Nov now according to the MacInsiders home page it's the 17th. Is this correct? How can the university change a deadline date to an EARLIER one? Especially without notifying anyone.

Can someone clarify?

The date should reflect the one week period after which the strike ended.

Thanks Ivan that explains it. Do you think I still have a shot if I go and plead with my faculty?

that's what you get for relying on information from others.
the deadline was Nov. 30 OR 1 week after the strike end, whichever is earlier.

Someone on this webpage couldn't read and so he wrote that the drop add date was Nov. 30

What would you say, you can't read? Or that you got your info second hand?

Anyways, my faculty sent out an email to everyone telling us the exact drop add date. I didn't really need the email, for I am not and idiot.

As mentioned it was changed to November 30th at the latest OR one week after the strike, whichever came first.

My faculty also sent out an e-mail when the strike ended stating that the drop/add date would be the 17th, one week after the strike ended.

Thing is I didn't get an email about this and all the information on the mcmaster site is severely out of touch and outdated (original drop deadline). MacInsiders was the only source I had and when I read the original post I was 100% under the impression that we had until the 30th. I know it's my responsibility to keep up with deadlines but McMaster seemed to do their best to conceal any information. A little blurb in their "Worth mentioning" section is hardly keeping your students up do date.

There's no harm in trying. The whole situation (ie. strike) is a big mess, they might let you drop it.

The e-mail actually said that the deadline was extended to November 30th OR one week after the end of the strike, whichever happened to occur first.

Read the entire message next time people.

Also if you never got the e-mail that's a bit of an issue, that might help your case. Double check your McMaster e-mail to make sure you never got anything that indicated it may be earlier than November 30th.

Saying McMaster is trying to conceal information when they sent out a mass e-mail though isn't exactly a valid argument. If you didn't get it that's an issue but they are hardly trying to conceal info about the drop date.

When was this email sent out? My MUSS account was automatically cleaned on Nov 2nd and since then the only strike related email I've had was to tell me that the strike has ended with no mention of the drop deadline.
