With Which 'Ethnicity'/Geography Do You Most Closely Identify With
Considering the previous poll ended ... unfortunately, I was gonna give this another go, only worded more appropriately and more focused...

Caucasian, Asian, European, and Indian/Pakistani rated the highest from the results.. this surprised me a little, because honestly, most of the people I've met, spoken to, or creeped (etc) on this site have mostly either been white, asian or some random culture

So the poll is Chinese, Other Asian, Indian, Caucasian, Middle Eastern, South American, Native, European/Russian/Australian, African and Other. I split up Asian because China makes up a good percentage of the world's population but there are other Asian groups that are smaller but significant.

If you're an 'other', post!

Don't flame/praise specific cultures/races, argue, or other thread-closing behaviour.. do that somewhere else. I don't want the %s fixed at something if the thread gets closed..
Do discuss races/cultures as they relate to MI

I really want to know what this place is made up of.. this is more of a indulgence in my curiosity more than anything.. I'm an engineer so if I made a mistake on groupings, forgive me?

I still don't think the poll options are good, should just be:
White
Black
Brown (Indian, Middle Eastern, etc.)
Asian (Chinese, Korean, etc.)
Hispanic
Other (Native Canadians, etc., the poster should specify)

The question is about ethnic though, not race.

The majority of my family comes from France, more specifically from Normandy, then a small portion of my family from my fathers side is from Ireland.
Not surprisingly, my family likes wine and beer a lot

Checked off Caucasian, but I'm technically also South American (my dad's side of the fam immigrated from Guyana, with some Portuguese mixed in). I feel strange calling myself Guyanese though, cause I don't really know anything about the culture... it's kind of a shame!

I'm naturally curious about people's backgrounds too, haha nothing wrong with that

Well theres massive overlap...but..
I should have put North American or something, but it doesn't really describe Caucasians well? Maybe "Modern Westerner"/"North American" but that includes other cultures and whatnot? Maybe Caucasian shouldn't even be there, but I couldn't think of a suitable substitute...

Max 10 poll options...

I chose "Caucasian" because it's the one I most identify with, despite being German-born. I'm fluent in German, but I still speak English with everyone, including my family most of the time. I've never really thought about it, it's just something I've always done. I don't have an accent or any physically defining German characteristics, so my name is really the only thing I've retained from it.

Being asked if I "have/had any Nazis in my family" or if I like sauerkraut (no and no) get kind of irritating, and believe it or not, even at 20 there are still people who ask those things. I think I learned at a relatively young age that it makes more sense to refrain from discussing being German because it makes more sense than talking about it and inevitably becoming annoyed by how rude people can be, which is too bad I guess. So I don't really identify with being European, despite being European.
