I was having a conversation with friends and there was an argument over which game series was better/more popular.
Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale or Dragon Age.
Which series do you think is better?

Didn't play NN or Id but I can say that BG is much better than DA in terms of RP freedom.
Other than that, Oblivion and Morrowind pwn all of those games.

Elder Scrolls isn't up there but DA is? If you're going to put RPG heavyweights, its pretty much required, lol. I liked DA I because of the focus on individual character stories... I'll suffer through horrible controls if I need to (like SotC) ... I'm interested in the story more than anything.
What we NEED though, is for Legacy of Kain to get put on the PS3 (A remake would be wonderful, essp for the older three/four games). And an update of FFVII. And something like Lair but better. And the return of the platformer, and the other genres that have been eclipsed since the shooterbox days.
And a 9 month ban on shooters... I am so sick of shooters...essp WWII or Space War types...
/end gaming rant

I was a big fan of SW: Knights of the Old Republic (the one from like 2003, and not its sequel). Bioware ftw.

Dragon age 1 and 2 are some of the best games I have ever played. Especially if you are a dick in the first game, and get to see how much people hated you in the second... xD

Those four games are all bioware RPGs. That's why I was comparing them.
For the record, I think that Baldur's Gate is the best.

Icewind Dale isn't technically Bioware. If we're gonna talk about them as a company, I'd put kotor as their best and Baldur's Gate or Mass Effect second.

You are correct sir. My only intent was to compare similar games. Seeing as Icewind Dale used a Bioware engine, and all four games use the D&D rules and turn-based structure I figured they were easier to compare than KOTOR or Mass Effect.

Yeah, was going to ask why those two weren't up there.
Gotcha, thanks.
