Who's got a better reputation
Just wondering... what school has a better reputation for Business? Carleton or McMaster?

Please don't tell me your leaving us if the majority responds with Carleton. If that's the case, I tip my hat to DeGroote.

Just curious. Would like serious answers from anyone who has a general idea. I don't keep up with this stuff.

I know far less people who talk about the Carleton school, nor do I see it advertised anywhere...so it's not like Ivey...or the schools out West

McMaster.

The Degroote School of Business was accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in 2006. Less than 15% of business schools worldwide have attained this prestigious level of accreditation. Carleton is not one of them.

Just to clarify.. I'm talking just about an undergrad degree. Does this still apply?

Yep... the entire school is accredited, not just the graduate or undergraduate studies. This accreditation is for business only though, not accounting or any other field.

-My impression is that Carleton puts a big focus on accounting. My friends there started out first year and immediately had a bunch of accounting courses. I think you can get all your designation credits within the 4 year degree, they don't have the BS like at DeGroote where you have to stay back/do summer school in order to get all your accountancy requirements.
-Also they have coop instead of internship, which is a tossup in my opinion, maybe some people would like one more than the other.

Growing up in Ottawa, my parents and their friends often referred to Carleton as "Last chance U", but I think that's outdated now and the reputation is much improved.

Are you thinking Carleton just because everyone is in Ottawa now?

Lol, Andrew, you know as well as I do that me and "everyone" weren't buddy buddy in high school. XD

Nah, Damien's moving to Ottawa in 2 days... doing some credit recovery stuff and applying to Carleton in the fall.

Haha, fair enough. Well, I'm not sure about Carleton business, but I guess you have had a fair deal of Mac related complaints. You should check how credits would transfer/ what your next few years would look like first though.

U of Ottawa's Telfer School of Business is Excellent and is renowned as a International Business School/Centre. You should look into its attributes.
