Why is everyone looking for a student house?
Hi there!

I'll be studying in McMaster for the upcoming school year, and as I'm looking for a place to stay (furnished apt) I see a lot of people are willing to go in student houses.

I've found off-campus residences (binkley and west village) both have bad reputations or unfurnished apt.

So I'm considering this student house thing. What is it?

Im guessing you are referring to the fact that alot of houses around Mac are remodeled to fit a good 6-8 rooms that are all filled with students. They have independent landlords. Check out http://macoffcampus.mcmaster .ca/classifieds/index.php

I'm pretty sure it's just a house being rented to only students. Consisting of many rooms which are rented out per student, washrooms, kitchen etc. are shared.

West Village is really nice, and comes with the option of getting it furnished?
But it is substantially more than renting a room in a house.

West Village, Binkley Hall, and apartments in general tend to be more expensive than living in a student house. That's why a lot of people look into houses that are near campus instead, especially since they're very close to campus.
