XP Mode On Win7 Help
I need help with running XP mode on Win7 Home Premium (64-bit).

Microsoft has this virtual pc thing, but it won't let home premium users run XP mode. How do I go about it? I tried Googling and watching YT videos, but I'm still confused.

I downloaded the files for Win7 Ultimate. I opened the Windows Virtual PC folder and clicked "create a virtual machine." I read somewhere that you'll need an activation code as well as an installation disk for XP? That's about all I know.

Thanks!

How To Run Two OS On One Computer

In case anyone cares...here it is.

1. Go to http://www.vmlite.com
2. Make an account (it's free)
3. Click "Products"
4. Click "VMLite Workstation"
5. Click the download link on the right and download VMLiteWorkstationSetu p.exe
6. Go to http://www.mydigitallife.inf o/2009...download-links
7. Ctrl+F to find WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe to download
8. Run VMLiteWorkstationSetu p.exe
9. When it says to specify package for VMLite XP Mode, select "specify the path of the XP mode package or a virtual disk file" and browse for where you DL'd WindowsXPMode_en-us.exe
10. Enjoy!

You can find very specific installation details in PDF files via the download tab on the VMLite website.

Keep doing your best to look into it through google. I'll start trying to dig stuff up for you later tonight after my test if you're still having trouble.

Best of luck to you!

You can't have it "legitly" because windows mode needs 7 pro/enterprise/ultimate

I think you meant to say "legitimately."

Also, I know that. I kind of said that in my first post. :/

Currently trying something called VMLite. Will share results.

What I meant was there is an alternative, but it should be impossible to do it unless you do "other things".

If your computer is powerful enough to emulate an os, VMware will do the job (same concept, if not done better) if you have a xp disc/iso and legit auth code.

/edit ninja'd twice =(

Once you have VM installed, choose the iso and install it like a fresh computer.

Can I get the ISO file from the Microsoft website or will it eventually ask me for an activation code...?

Try this out.

http://forums.mydigitallife. info/t...s-7-Repository

Download the ISO for Ultimate. Use the Activator to activate the Ultimate.

They don't provide iso's xP. It'll eventually turn into "not genuine product mode" and render it useless if you don't put the code in/update.

To hell with VMLite/ware.
Use Open Source software: http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

VirtualBox FTW! Download some XP ISO from somewhere (no you can't get it from torrents) :p

Also, the XP Mode installation on a 64-Bit Windows 7 is also 64-bit...XP is not good in 64-bit.
Via Virtualbox, you have a choice of that too
