On August 10th, Lawrence Martin published an article in the Globe and Mail entitled ‘IF THERE’S AN INSPIRATION DEFICIT IN OUR POLITICS, BLAME IT ON THE YOUNG.’ In the article, he explains that if only young people were allowed to vote, the Green Party would be much more competitive with Canada’s major political parties rather than not having any seats in the House. What is holding youth back? Why are youth voting rates so low? Come join representatives from the campus, local and provincial governments as well as members of the Hamilton Civic League as the grapple with these and other important questions.

Most student's don't know about how to register to vote, and don't care enough to go out of their way to find out. There really isn't a political party in Canada that I care about enough to bother looking into the registration process, and I know many who feel the same way. Its possible that if students were forced to vote the green party might stand a chance, but the fact that they aren't registering voluntarily is because no Canadian political parties come close to representing what students care about.
