Zipcar
Anyone have any experience using this service? I would love to use this esp for grocery shopping because busing on the weekend can be a hassle. Also to practice my driving since I have to complete my full license by the end of the summer.

Matthew McConaughey seems to like it:

And since it's not Uber, there's less chance to get molested. What a deal!

Most of those types of companies are a ripoff. McMaster offers free bussing from Campus to Fortino's (and back) on the weekend, I believe.

You would have to check, but I doubt Zipcar would hire anyone without a full license.

I used the student car share a couple times and on off-peak hours it was $5 including gas so it was a great deal. Not too sure about zipcar, but I think it's a bit more.

I signed up for zipcar in November and cancelled my subscription about one month later. If someone books a car from 4-6pm and you book the same car from 6-7pm there's no guarantee that the people before you will be back on time for your booking. The first time I ever tried to use zipcar the temperature was -15 and the person who had the car before me was 10 mins late. I wasn't amused at having to stand outside waiting for them to show up. And they left the radio on full blast which was a nice surprise when I started the car.
Zip car can only let you know if the previous people will be late if those people themselves call zipcar and let company know. And they likely won't because they may get fined, so you're left hung out to dry. Some people love it, but the whole thing was a waste of time and money for me. I'm still pissed I lost $30 from signing up.

I have the opposite experience with zipcar, artsy. I've been a member for 3 years, and have had very few problems. When I do, they are always resolved when I call zipcar. On the RARE occasion that my car hasn't been there (someone didn't return on time or something else), zipcar paid for my cab fare. There are serious penalties for people that return their cars late, so I think you just got unlucky. Being late just itself costs $35. If someone has it booked after you, then it gets significantly more costly to you for being late. If the car isn't there at the start of your reservation, call zipcar right away. Let them deal with it.

Leaving the radio on full blast would also be something you could call in about. Members are responsible for leaving the cars in good shape - that would apply to leaving the radio on blasted.

I can assure you that if you write a letter to zipcar, they will probably be able to help you out.
