2nd year Japanese
I took Japanese 1z06 this summer and thoroughly enjoyed it and found it relatively easy to keep up. I enrolled for Japanese 2z03 and 2zz3 to continue learning japanese throughout the year. I'm just curious as to what Iwai sensei expects the second year around. Is the pace the same as first year? Is it significantly harder in the second year? I just don't want to overburnden myself as I am graduating this year.

2Z03 and 2ZZ3 are basically just a continuation of 1Z06. The atmosphere and pacing are similar to 1Z06. But this time, Iwai-sensei will place a bit more emphasis on conversational skills. The book you will use in second year is the sequel to the one you have used in 1Z06. You will learn things such as 5 new verb tenses (potential, volitional, passive, imperative, causative) as well as basic keigo.

I took 1Z06 last summer and 2Z03/2ZZ3 last year.

I didn't find that the pacing got any faster, really. In fact, if anything you might find it better paced than 1Z06, because you took that as a summer course. There will be more mini-quizzes than in the summer, but you'll cover less kanji on each one. Also, the recognition kanji are on mini-quizzes too.

Like MAOH said, the book is a continuation of the one you used for 1Z06. Make sure that you look over lessons 11 and 12, as I don't think those are covered in the summer course. And review your kanji, since the first few mini-quizzes are from the lessons 1-12 kanji, I believe.
