8-month lease? Possible?
Hi,
I was wondering if any one has ever had an 8 month lease. Are such contracts offered by landlords and how does one get their hands on them?
I'd appreciate if people could share their experiences.
Thanks

You should check out the mcmaster housing page.
I have seen 8 month leases. Even if you end up getting a 12 month lease, you can always sublet.

They're rare and most of the time you have to sign a lease late (i.e. during the summer) when the landlords are more desperate to get an 8-Month lease

I got an 8 month lease and signed in January Just search hard, and early. I think on the housing site you can limit the search options to specific lease lengths.

I'm on 8 month lease, Sept to May. I'm happy with it since I dont need to think about subletting which caused me some trouble last year..

I had the option to choose between an 8 or 12 month lease. That is all.

I'm stuck with a crappy 12-month lease. Don't be like me.
As for apartments near Mac, I know there are apartments on Main not far from school. DK about how quiet it is. :/
I think I'd prefer to rent a student house with ppl I know versus an apartment though.

great apartments near main and whitney (where i live) if you rent over the summer you can get 8-month (basically you just have to give 2 month notcie before you move out).

West Village Suites is really good, probably the best apartment available close to mac.
If you are looking to rent starting in January, check this out.

That's good to know. I don't think I know anyone who was able to get an 8-month lease =/

I have an 8-months lease. Negotiate with the landlord, some are willing to when they have a hard time finding people to rent in the 1st place.

Most 8 months will be offered in May/June/July/August - AKA summer months.
