Aanii/She:kon from the McMaster First Nations Student Association
Aanii/She:kon everyone!

We are the McMaster First Nations Student Association; a student group on campus affiliated with the Indigenous Studies Program.

We hold weekly meetings and have events throughout the year - guest speakers, lecture series, craft workshops and all kinds of other stuff.

This year we will be holding our second Welcoming Powwow on September 24th, and participating in OPRIG McMaster's Alternative Welcome Week.

There is a myth that you have to be Inuit, Metis or First Nations to join, and that isn't true at all! We welcome all students who are interested in Indigenous issues!

We hope you all have a great year!

(and if you're wondering...Aanii is hello in Anishinaabe, and She:kon is hello in Mohawk and Cayuga!)

Minor correction on the language bit. She:kon is "hello" in Mohawk. Sge:no would be the greeting in Cayuga
