Accounting Major/Specialization
Hi im in the commerce program and was wondering if there was a specific CA we would need to major in accounting? Like for example i know at ryerson you need atleast 70% in financial accounting to major in accounting.

You don't "major in accounting" at McMaster. You get a BComm, and that's it. If you want to pursue a designation, look at the website for the institute which manages that designation.

CA - www.guidetorulingthew orld.ca
To get your CA designation, you will need to be 2 courses ahead going into 4th year, and then you will have to take 3 advanced accounting electives in the summer after 4th year.

CMA - www.cma-ontario.org
The CMA does not require the 3 advanced electives in your last summer. I believe it also doesn't require 4AF3 - Accounting Theory

CGA - www.cga-ontario.org

You don't have an option to any majors in the commerce program. However, you can have an area of concentration in one of the subjects. I actually found this website that shows the courses that you need. Hope this helps.
