Anatomy 2F03/2FF3 Labs
Can anyone tell me what we'll be doing in the 2F03/2FF3 labs?

Edit: I'm wondering about the Health Science anatomy courses (HTH SCI 2F03/2FF3)

The labs are pretty easy. Finish your quiz before the deadline and show up in order to get your marks. They serve as a location to demonstrate principles learned in the lectures. For example, when learning about Atherosclerosis the lab session will have specimens that show symptoms of the disease.

When I had Anatomy this year we were not questioned or tested on material while in the lab. In short, the point of the lab is to enhance the learning experience.

Hope that clarifies the purpose a bit!

So you're not marked on the lab? No writeup or anything for it?

Nope. The Health Science Anatomy Labs this year required no writeup or anything. You had to complete a quiz worth 10 marks before the lab. However, you only received the mark if you attended the lab for that week.

However, you guys do realize that the labs are every other week right? In the tutorials you will be conducting a differential diagnosis every week. For this, a 1-2 page writeup is mandatory and marks are awarded for correctly identifying the disease and other factors (determined by the TA).

One of my friends told me there would be cadavers in one of the labs...but I'm kind of doubting that. Can anyone confirm/deny?

There are cadavers in quite a few of the labs, or if not full cadavers then at least some wet specimens, and for sure some block specimens (in plastic blocks).

Also, in the outside of the scheduled lab times that TA's hold (which I highly recommend you go to) you will almost always be using cadavers and wet specimens.

You should be getting excited for Anatomy! Although it's a difficult course it is also very interesting. The bellringer exams are a pain in the neck though. You get taken out to the lab where pins are placed at random locations on specimen. Your job is to identify what the pin is pointing to within the 1 minute they give you. The final exam consists of about 80 questions in the bellringer style format in addition to around 50 question in MCQ format.

No, unless you manage to get a waiver from the professor.

I don't think so:

Prerequisite(s):
Registration in Level II of the B.H.Sc. (Honours) program or registration in Level II of the B.H.Sc. (Honours) Specializations

If you are in Nursing or Medical Engineering (I believe that's what it is called) you can take the course.

Or in midwifery.

Probably not, but email them to ask just in case. You can look into Kin 1Y03/1YY3 and Bio 2A03 if you're interested in Anatomy and Physiology.

Wow that sound's really cool. what parts of the the body would they ask? Is it just anything on the exterior or can they ask stuff from the inside too?

Inside and outside . For example, locate the pancreas, greater omenteum, liver, Right Subclavian Artery and the Anterior Descending Artery of the heart. Additionally, based on your knowledge of the anterior descending artery, what would happen if a thrombus clogged it?

These are the questions you should expect. Most of them will ask you to point something out and then apply your knowledge to a situation.
