I took 1AA3. Had 2 essays worth 15 % and 25 % respectively. First essay was only 700 words
Second one was 2000. The essays are short. need to read an article and research.

It has a midterm and a final. The midterm was 50 MC. Final 100 MC. The 2 tests were the easiest tests I have wrote in uni. Take this course if its not full yet.

Ps: take professor Prowse

I just took Anthro 1aa3, and it was by far the worst course I had taken all term.
The prof doesn't know how to lecture, she just reads off the slides, there's a TON of memorization and reading you need to do in order to study for the midterm and exam, and the other 2 assignments were a rough draft and final draft you had to hand in - summarizing, analyzing and reflecting on an anthropological journal of your choice..
The material itself is actually really interesting, 80% of the reason I hated the course was because of the prof.. the other 20% is due to the fact that it was a 3 hr evening class from 7-10pm

I took 1AA3

Went to lecture maybe twice the whole semester because my prof liked to talk a lot about her worldly experiences and not so much about actual course material. I found the material dry and boring personally, but that isn't to say that others wouldn't find it interesting. "Sex, Food & Death" is a far too provocative title for the material covered in this course.

As far as the workload for this course, as others have mentioned it is not very demanding at all. 2 writing assignments as well as the multiple choice midterm and exam. I found it very easy to do well on the writing assignments as marks were assigned for peer review feedback as well as reflection (free marks bro). The midterm and exam were also pretty easy in my opinion. I never went to lecture or took notes, all I did was read the chapters covered out of the textbook hours before the midterm/exam and that was enough to pull off a decent mark.

I know that last semester there was two classes of 1AA3 one was a day class the other was night. I was in the day class and I found it the easiest class ever. I had Professor Prowse and she was great. The reading aren't too bad and they are also unnecessary, although I recommend doing them. The first writing assignment was so easy and the second was a bit harder. They were submitted on peer scholar and you had to do a first copy, peer reviews, final copy then reflection, this was annoying and the process did bring down my mark. As far as the course content itself its not too bad, but the name "Sex, Food, death" is misleading, it's not that provocative. At times it was really boring. And finally the midterm (50) and the exam (100) were both MC and they were soooo easy. The exam took me 20-30 ( minus scantron time) minutes to finish 100 MC. In the end, I highly recommend this course if you looking for an easy mark. And if you do m
ake sure it's the one with Dr. Prowse because she is awesome and I herd the other prof is harder.
