Anthro 2B03
Took this class with Dr. Cummins in Fall 2009-2010.
The course deals with a variety of Indigenous Cultures from Canada and the USA. Cummins like showing films and rarely has class last until after 9:15pm. He also goes on amusing rants.
This was the second course I took with Cummins, and it took me awhile to finally realize what he is looking for on midterms and for book reviews. For the former, you need examples from texts, lectures and videos for all of the questions. For the latter, you need to follow book review format from Nexus, otherwise you will not really do too well.
Two textbooks (one of which [Kehoe] was terribly boring and had chapters that never seemed to end), plus the two books you needed to review.
Course Breakdown:
20% Book Review
30% Midterm
20% Book Review
30% Final
We had a guest lecturer who was speaking on the Caledonia reclamation, and the girl had no clue what she was talking about whatsoever which was incredibly irritating. She clearly knew nothing about Haudenosaunee culture or history and considering it was part of her Masters work made it more appalling.
