Apartment style is Bates residence and suite is Mary Keyes.

Bates has a stove, and 2,4 or 6 people rooms. The washroom is spread out into 3 sections. A room for the toilet, a room for the shower and the sink is along the wall in the hallway. Its a pretty good idea since it prevents one person from hogging all three facilities. The laundry room is in the basement, along with two study rooms and a rec room which has ping pong, pool and foosball.

Mary Keyes has a cook top (no oven) and 4 bedroom suites, with two washrooms per suite. Its a normal bathroom and its shared by two people. There is also wireless internet, common rooms on each floor and I believe the laundry room is on the second floor. Mini Mac and Bistro are also located in the lobby so its pretty convenient for food and late night snacks.

Bates is a little cheaper since it is an older building and has no AC. I've lived there for two years and thought it was great. The lack of AC isn't really a problem since you only need it for the first two weeks. I like how all the floors are carpeted in bates (rather than just the living room like in Keyes), it gives it a homier feel.

hope that helps

Keyes has the "nicer" and "newer" look. If you think your going to study a lot then Keyes may be better. Its quieter. Another advantage is that the mini-mart/bistro and service desk (Vacumes) are all at Keyes. The Social at keyes is more or less lacking, especially compared to bates which is a hub for social activity on thursdays, fridays, and weekends. Most people in that quad seem to end up at bates for one party or another throughout the year..not that it is over loud by any means.

Both Rez's are very nice and a tour is the only way to tell. I know people who hate one or the other. So if possible come out an check them out

That is actually what grosses me out the most about res. Those carpets do not get cleaned from year to year...so...you have years of filth, mould etc all ground into them. It gives you the dirtiest socks ever.
